Engagements
Getting Started
How working with us is structured
Three honest shapes an engagement can take, depending on the size of the problem and how much of your workflow it touches. None of them require guessing at a number up front.
Three shapes
01
Compass review
- Who it fits
- Teams who know something's slow but haven't mapped why, or who want a second, honest opinion before committing to a bigger project.
- What happens
- A guided workflow review with fixed scope. We walk through a normal day with the people doing the work, map how it really moves, and name the friction plainly.
- What you walk away with
- A clear picture of the current workflow and a specific, written recommendation, including when the right answer is to change nothing, or to fix something without hiring us for it.
- How it ends
- Compass ends with that recommendation delivered. It stands on its own. Some engagements stop there; some continue into a focused build, but nothing is assumed either way.
02
Focused build
- Who it fits
- A team with one workflow and one narrow problem, a step that keeps breaking, a handoff nobody owns, a report that eats a full day every month.
- What happens
- We design and build the fix alongside the people who actually use the workflow, not around them. Small enough to stay accountable, real enough to change how the day goes.
- What you walk away with
- A working tool or process change, in use by the team it was built for, along with plain documentation of how it works and why it was built that way.
- How it ends
- It ends when the fix is live, the team is trained on it, and the rough edges from real use have been adjusted. What happens after that is a separate, later decision.
03
Ongoing partnership
- Who it fits
- Organizations with several workflows worth working through over time, or systems that need someone paying steady attention as things change.
- What happens
- Recurring improvement and stewardship, revisiting workflows as the business changes, maintaining what's been built, and taking on the next problem as it surfaces.
- What you walk away with
- A standing relationship with someone who already understands how your workflows fit together, so each new problem doesn't start from zero.
- How it ends
- It continues for as long as it's useful to both sides, and either side can end it. There's no lock-in beyond the work itself being documented and yours to keep.
Scope & quote
How we scope and quote
Scope and price are agreed in writing, after we understand the work
We don't quote from a menu, because workflows aren't identical from one team to the next. Scope and price are agreed in writing after a Compass review or a fit call, once we've actually seen what the work involves.
If we're not the right fit for a problem, we'll say so plainly rather than stretch to take it on.
Tell us what isn’t working.
No pitch deck, no pressure. Describe the part of the work that keeps tripping people up and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can help.
