How much does IT support cost for a small business in Chattanooga?

Real ranges, what drives them, and the costs that never show up on the invoice.

Nobody publishes prices, so here's a plain picture. Around Chattanooga, ongoing managed support for a small business commonly lands somewhere between about $100 and $200 per user per month, with per-device and flat-rate arrangements also in use. Hourly break-fix work typically runs roughly $100 to $175 an hour. Project work, a migration, a network rebuild, an office move, is quoted separately.

What moves the number

How many people, and how many devices each one uses. Whether you're in a regulated industry with documentation requirements. How much of your stack is modern cloud versus an aging on-premise server. How fast you need someone on site. And how much the previous years of deferred maintenance left behind.

The costs that aren't on the invoice

The expensive part of bad IT is rarely the support bill. It's an hour of six people's time waiting on something, twice a month. It's the workaround that became permanent. It's the software you pay for and use a third of. When we look at an operation, we count those hours, because they usually dwarf the line items.

What to ask a provider

What's included versus billed separately. What response time you're actually promised, in writing. Who owns your accounts, tenant, and domain, you should. What happens to your data and documentation if you leave. Whether anyone will be responsible for improving things, or only for keeping them running.

Support and improvement aren't the same purchase

Most providers sell stability: patching, backups, help when something breaks. That's necessary and worth paying for. It is not the same as someone examining how your work flows and removing steps that shouldn't exist. If your frustration is 'this all works but it's harder than it should be,' you don't have a support problem, you have a workflow problem, and it's priced and delivered differently.

We'd rather tell you which of the two you're facing than sell you the wrong one.
